Currently, my meta tags are EXACTLY the same for every page of my site regardless of the content. Should the meta tags describe the page? Or should they be describing the website as a whole ? (which is what they do now) Same question for the title tag. Currently, it's the same for all my pages but I was wondering if I should make it different based on the pages content. Also, I haven't read too much about how (if at all) the title tags affect searches on Yahoo, Google, and MSN. Does anyone know anything about this? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
Yes, you should write unique and descriptive title tags and meta tags for every page of the site. The title tag in particular is a major factor in all search engine algorithms.
They should be describing each individual page. Same answer as above. You'll probably be receiving a ton more traffic after you change your Title tags around. The Title has a lot to do with your rankings within the search engines.
please dont forget that although your main concern may be optimising the title tag for the search engine, kindly remember to put it in a way that is legible and not annoying to the internet surfer who will be reading that very title on the search engine results , in big bold blue, if it's just obvious keyword spamming it can be off putting, but if it marries the desire the surfer had when searching e.g. surfer "where to find white shoes?" (keyword first) title: "White Shoes in all sizes, sandals, sneakers, blablabla..."
Meta tags may add a little benefit for your page. Title tags are one of the most important tags in SEO and it may build an impact for your site.
use different title and meta description for each page...Unique title is one of the important tags on SEO...today meta tags are not valued by SE unlike before although it still helps...
Thanks to all for all of your help mrkhm Thanks for the example Ok so all my pages currently have many thumbnails with descriptions linking to media files (ex. "This guy should've looked both ways before crossing the street...") Each page is also part of a larger category. The above example was part of "Funny Videos" So for this example page, I should do this for the <title> tag?: mywebsitename.com: Funny Videos, This guy should've looked both ways before crossing the street
You should keep separate title and description and regarding another type of meta tags am little bit confused , coz in many places i have seen so many tags which we use rarely , i have posed a question regarding this.. is there any one aware of these all tags reply Thanks
