TinyURL.com ShortURL.com and other URL shortening services that are being used by spammers / email marketers in hiding their true URLs... for sure they receive tons of spam complaints.
I ran a site like this for a while, but closed it down due to the amount of spam etc. One way to do it is to record the referrers to the links, and then use a bot to check the content of the referring pages. Also if 90% of the referrers are coming from webmail addresses then maybe have the system flag it for moderation by the admin.
usually everybody know that they theirself are not the source of spam. So hosters just close their eyes on it.
Well godaddy dont just "close" their eyes on it... I'm actually looking for a host that will ignore those complaints
I believe that if in the TOS, you were to place a disclaimer to say that your website cannot take any responsibility for it, then we at Corporate Internet Solutions would not see any issues with it. The disclaimer must clearer state that the "user" takes full responsibility over their actions and all urls are non tracable to the users. (Or something like that). Using disclaimers can be a good way to get out of trouble and i guess that this is what most of these types of websites will do anyway. Best Wishes, ~ Mike
Oh , and by the way, SPAM (uppercase) is food. Something creepy ham and pork thingy... spam is the e-mails etc
Yeah, tell that to the Federal Trade Commission http://www.ftc.gov/spam/ @others, thanks for the feedback
