Everyone knows searchengines love fresh content.
I currently have an entertainment site where new stuff is added dayly, users comments are added, ect, ect.

Searchengines obviosly love my site, they often crawl the site, and for most of my keywords im in the top 10 of the SERPS.

Now im thinking about building a site for a product id like to sell. When this site is done, it will be hard to update it with fresh content on a regulair basis ( the product will not change, no new feautures will be added) So basicly there is no fresh content to add....
So im wondering what i can do to make searchengines love this site as much as they love the site that has fresh content dayly.

I have been wondering how for example software selling sites are doing this?
They just sell one product, dont change the content of their site, but still they get high rankings in the SERPS?
Maybe im just missing their "secret" becourse i just dont understand it..

Since i will be selling a product on my site, i will be displaying user testimonials on several pages.. I was thinking to "rotate" these testimonials over the different pages.. This way the pages will have different content every time the site gets crawled.. ( i dont know if this is technicly possible, but my guess its that it could be done with a script)

What do you guys think? Is this a good idea?
Is there stuff im missing out on?

Don't rotate info. If one page gets cached at a different date then another, google will see two identical pages. Plus you can't also rotate the links to the pages, so you would have link-text describing one thing - linking to a page about another thing. It's also bad for repeat visitors: they bookmark something, and get to a page about something else.

How do static websites do it? Old domain, old links to the domain, unique content.
Other than that: static websites that don't regularly add content should expect to see their visitors numbers slowly go down as new sites on the same subject come up.
Having testimonials is a good idea - adding new ones to the top of the list every once in a while should work to keep at least those pages fresh.

A product that doesn't ever change? I can't think of many products that don't change. Do check out whether there are many competing websites on that product. Those would be hard to beat - because what do you have to offer that they don't?

Those website has a high amount of inbound links to stay on top of the search engines. Content freshness in this case will have a minimal impact when compared to the inbound links.

Back to your topic, you can try to have different featured products showed (on the same page of your main product) on the page. These featured products, can be something like 'People that buy this product also buys <other product names>'. Then you can make these products random to create different content periodically.
