How do non-recip directories get their pagerank?

    I'm seeing a lot of non reciprocal directories with a pagerank of 4-5, how do they get it in the first place, since nobody links to them?

    They build links to their site like every other site does.
    Doesn't mean the links have to come from the people in the directory.
