I have an old site of mine I made in 2006 that has been under performing for years at http://www.thedailysearch.com/. It only makes about $1 a month from Google Adsense. It only gets about 6-10 visits per day and they usually last about 0 seconds according to statcounter.com. I am wondering if this is a good domain name and what would others do with it if they owned it? I'm thinking about changing it to a meta search engine since it sounds like a search engine name. I'm working on what I want to change it to here: http://www.searchsites.ms11.net/index2.htm Actually, it's always been a meta search engine. I'm just wondering how I could change things up a bit so more people would use the site?
I am not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but if I had that domain name I would build a news site. Join a few press release websites then pick out the best stories and place them on your site.
I'm open to all answers. Obviously, my vision for the site isn't working. ` A news site? Interesting. I guess it does sound like a news site name. Don't news sites require tons of pages, though? I ask because I will be the only person running the site and I think the problem I have with the site now is lack of time for original content. EDIT: Maybe turning it into a multiple search engine (including news search) is the way to go?
If I had this domain name, I would have built a site using wordpress and posted upcoming content from the news sites, and best of all from the Google trends, because Google trends shows you the daily searches being done by the people, and it's that info that those people are looking for at that moment, and if you post content on those search trends or keywords, you'll get hundreds of visitors each day and your adsense income will also increase. I'm telling you all this from personal experience as I have two sites based on this strategy, and each site is making $2-$5 daily, and I get 1000-2000 unique visitors daily with page views exceeding 2000, and on weekends each site makes between $2-$10, and few days ago when Michael Jackson died, I posted content related to the searches being shown on Google trends and each of my site made more than $10, and till to date since this news is still a bit hot, each of my site is making more than $5 daily. I spend just 30 minutes daily on posting on these sites and using marketing strategies. Both of my sites rank in top ten on Google search results for many of the Google trends keywords daily. Hope this helps.
This post very helpful indeed. As I was speculating on going from a semi-content rich site to a plain meta search, I was worrying what might happen to the as-it-is minuscule traffic I get now. Would I lose even that? But perhaps I can strike a balance again and incorporate Google trends data right on the main page? Thus keeping the meta search feel while driving traffic. That was a really generous share. I really appreciate that.
I would first give it a 'news-papery' theme, then I would set it up as a torrent tracker search either using a custom search engine, or one of the modified google searches with adsense enabled. Maybe do torrent news articles like torrentfreak.com or pull some related RSS feeds. OR you could make it an aggregrator of what people are searching for, sort of like google trends but pulling data from other search engines as well.
It's a really good domain name. I would get a decent pro theme for the site and then post news on the hot search topics of the day ie top 10 searches of the day and breaking news. Use both video and text content.
Hey Mike323 I took a sec to review your site. You do have a good site,but... a bad seo site name. How about flipping the script? Instead make customers search for YOU! Let's see "TheDailySearch" .... could be a daily used keyword search database! therefore when people think of finding the most popular keywords the automatically type in " the daily search"! Try finding a keyword finder php script! I will bring you more visitors beacuse everyday the Top Search Changes like the day before MJ died what was the most daily searched keywords? ...and Now?
