I have several jpg's and I want to create a video to promote the product the images are of. I want it to look professional so any ideas would be appreciated.

You can use flash video swf/flv or convert into mpg/wmv or any other format you like. Macromedia Director/Flash and several other softwares are available for it. Google up for list.

Use animoto. If it's only a 30 second video, it's totally free.

window Media player is easier to manage for beginners.
I have tried it even without any guide from others.
then Macromedia Flash is also a good software...

Windows movie maker would make a good option. You can add transition effects, zoom in, zoom out, background music and then save it as a WMV file. I have made several videos with windows movie maker with pictures that they all turned out very well.

Professional? go for final cut and adobe premier. User friendly? Go for Windows Media Player.

windows media player do you use? I think it is windows movie maker, wmp just a video player, not creator or editor or converter
Or you may try AVS Video Editor which has many great functions. The features in the official site are below:
    1. Direct Transfer to iPod, PSP, Mobiles and Other Portable Players
    2. Supports Virtually ALL Video Formats
    3. Burn Movie DVDs
    4. Capture and Edit Video from External Devices
    5. Edit Video and Enhance Your Movies
    6. Create Slide Shows
    7. Make Perfect Audio for Your Video Editing Tasks
    8. Scene Detection
    9. Convenient Video Editing Tools and Interface

So I recommend you this tool, you can see detail and guides:

    Free download link: http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Editor.aspx
Also, you can use Premiere which may be difficult for us:
    http://www.adobe.com

I hope this may help you
