Hey guys. I have 1000 subscribers to my FeedBurner email list. Is there any way I can take advantage of it by sending a custom email to all those recipents? There doesn't seem to be any option other than automatic delivery of my posts to them. I've been reading on web marketing lately and a lot have stressed the importance of email lists. Was hoping to offer some exclusives through email lists. Thanks.
Yeah, I don't think that Feedburner provides a way to do that, and if you sent them all an email, I bet you'd have a few people unsubscribe. I would recommend setting up a mailing list that they can opt-in to in addition to your RSS feed. Since you already have 1000 readers, I'm sure a nice chunk would jump on the mailing list if you were to offer a freebie (like an ebook or something) as an incentive - then announce it via a blog post (which your readers will see). That way, you can move some of your RSS subscribers over to your opt-in list...which is the moneymaker.
Yes you do take advantage but there is also a disadvantage for you. Because if you try to send them on their email I guess it is harder for you. Only if you hire somebody to do that regularly then your up.
Well they already subscribe to my Feedburner so I'm guessing they want to receive mail from me, just that I can't customize it =(
No, when someone subscribes to your Feedburner feed, they want to read your site...not necessarily receive emails. There is a pretty big difference there. Feedburner is for blog posts. Mailing lists are for special offers that may not be on your blog (and other "insider" information).
