Press the "Print Screen" button on you keyboard then paste into a graphic program.

addition to that pressing "ALT GR" and "print screen" will only take a shot of the active window / page .. ;)

I have used Snagit 7 (free trial). Liked it very much but felt it was expensive. However, I enjoyed using it... There are plenty of freeware out there doing the same job. Try in a freeware download site or just google this string: "freeware screenshot download".

Screengrab 1.0(Check here: http://no-nonsense-software.com/freeware/) is also a freeware that seems to be just enough for daily non-professional needs.

And don't forget to wear safety goggles while shooting the screen.

    Heh! That's funny :)

Thanks for making the issue light and making me laugh... long time (about 2 hrs) since I laughed. One of my students passed away today in a road traffic accident :(

snag it is very powerful if you're going to need to do regular screen shots. I use it for technical documentation all the time. It's overkill if you just need an occasional screenie - where alt+printscrn or ctrl+prntscrn can handle your needs. My favorite feature is that it will scroll down a window and capture the whole thing.

I used Corel Capture for a while, but it had problems with transparent windows so I went back to snagit.

This is by far the best screenshot freeware I have ever used, add frames, buttonize the image, snap fixed pixel images pretty much anything. Dl it here

screenhunter free edition from wisdomsoft will do the trick just fine for you, you can choose .gif .jpeg or bmp formats.

you can go on to download.com and search for a program, it will give you alot more options and functions than the print screen button will let you do.

a good program to have on hand is photoshop though. i use it almost every time i sit down at the computer

Fireshot for Firefox is brilliant for screenshots of websites and also give you the ability to annotate.
