How Do I Stop The Spam Notifications?

    You would think WP would be smart enough to add such a feature since
    you can disable registration, this and that, but I see no way of not
    getting those spam notifications...

    Is there some WP plugin that will kill this process?

    You can disable registration. Uncheck, "Allow anyone to register on this site."

    There's many of them: I use Anti-spam, Captcha, My friend is happy with Akismet, though I didn't manage to cope with the process of registration:)
