I have been researching a few of my own ideas but I cannot seem to find how I would begin manufacturing. For example: I have an idea for a sunglasses line. How to I get my product manufactured so I can begin to sell them?
The first step would be designing a virtual model in a CAD program such as solidworks or mastercam. Then you would need to pitch it to someone with money.
Where are you located? Some governmental or state agencies should be available for help to get started. Chambers of Commerce, Small business bureau, org.s like that. If you're applying for a loan at a bank, even they can point you in the right direction before lending you the money, so you can make a nice business plan for them, although getting a loan is much harder now...
It is easy. You need to setup a factory for this. What you need to do is outsource the manufacture to third party. And the product is having your brand. You can find this many at China.
Your best bet would probably be to pitch the idea to someone with money or an actual sunglasses company and let them do all the work and you get a profit. Unless you want to perform all this by yourself which means you would have to look around for a third party manufacturer, you could most likely find one in China.
i live in Thailand, getting things manufactured is easier than you think, you just approach a company already manufacturing glasses for example, give them a sketch of the designs you want and start making prototypes. 90% of the gear they manufacture is for 3rd parties anyway - they're in the business of building for other people so there's no issue with going to them with a new project to manufacture.
Thanks you guys! I think I will follow through and take my idea to an existing sunglasses manufacturer.
