I bought a few domain names for the first time, and my friend told me I should start with a blog type of site first. I would like to know where to start for this? How do I make my .info page a blog? Any feedback will help thanks!

you can choose blogspot or wordpress for blogging. If you bought domains wordpress is the best one.
Buy good web hosting package too.
    Point your name servers.
    Then install wordpress on it.
Install some plugins and start blogging.

If you choose blogspot there is not need to buy hosting or install wordpress.

Ok, so the best way to start a blog is to go with wordpress. What if I want to do affiliate type stuff. Will I have to make a different website, or can I combine it all in one?

Hmmm, sounds like you are confused as to what affiliate marketing is. I would read some more on it. It can be incorporated into any website. For example, say you had a blog where you talked about NASCAR all the time. You might use an affiliate program to StubHub or Ticketmaster and your readers might be interested in buying tickets after clicking on one of your ads on your page. If they buy after clicking on one of your ads, you would get a commission of some kind. This is how affiliate marketing works. First thing first though... you need readers. Talk about things that interest you, more than likely those things interest someone else too!

You can combine it with your blog.
Try to find the appropriate affiliate with the same theme with your blog

since you are new, I suggest blogspot. The problem is that blogspot does not have as many plugins as Wordpress, but it's easier to use.

I respectfully disagree with this post. Stick your neck out a little bit and learn how to setup a website. You'll be thankful you did in the future when blogspot, blogger, or even wordpress.com wants to hold your content for ransom and limit what you can do with your blog. Setting up a website is actually really simple, but it may seem like you are jumping in over your head. Don't hesitate to ask questions!

    What you need:

Web Hosting (hostgator.com is a good place to get hosting)
Domain Name (Look at Godaddy.com, use a coupon listed in the vouchers section of this forum, also, get a .com or .net, stay away from other TLD's)

Once you get that setup, go into your cPanel (provided by your web hosting provider, go into Fantastico, install Wordpress... You will understand this after you get your web hosting and login to cPanel).

No problem, running a website is really pretty cheap. You are looking at about a $5 - 6 commitment starting out. The price of that will go up if you have tons of visitors, but ify ou have tons of visitors, you'll have tons of money in the bank too. Good luck, shoot me a PM if you need any help. :)

PHPgator hit it on the head... Learn as much as you can... But take note that you wont learn everything in one shot and thats perfectly fine... There are a lot of aspects of web design and it takes years..Yes YEARS to learn..

Go with Wordpress if you've bought the domains already. Keep in mind that since your blog is new you will not be able to sign up with some affiliate networks until you have some consistent traffic to your blog.

Here is a relevant article that you may find useful

Using A Website Or Blog In Internet Marketing

Now after you have decided on your business plan and strategy, you should then think of how I am going to get my product out there. Well before you can do anything else you will need a website or a blog like wordpress or blogger to send your clients to. Now you can make your own website which is what I do, but I took an online class to learn how to do that in the 1990’s or you can buy a program. You can hire someone to make your site. There is free ways like a blog, but wordpress needs hosting, blogger is free at least for now.
