How do I sell a site on DP?

Hi, I need some guidance with selling a site here, bid-style. I have a site that I value at around $2,500 (so that will probably be my BIN). My 2 questions are:

If I start a bid at say $100, don't I run the risk of no one hitting the BIN and having to release the site for as low as a couple of hundred dollars?

How are site transactions usually handled here on DP. Half the money upfront and half after receiving content and changing nameservers?

Thanks in advance for the help!

As a seller you can ask for money upfront, once I sent away a couple of domains I wanted to sell to someone, then he spent weeks saying he will make a payment over and over with excuses, I got tired of it all that I told him he can have them for free to make the case closed. Pay attention on possibilities of buyers asking for chargeback once you send them your goods if you're dealing via online money transfer services.

Have a look around the Sites section to see how others format their thread; http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=52.

I wouldn't start it too low because it will just annoy people having to bd from $100. Maybe start at $1500 or $1000 and note the reserve (you won't sell for under that) in your thread.

The above idea sounds good - start at a higher price, or better yet - start at your reserve.

By the way, for such a high valued site I don't think you'd get much interest at DP - that's just what I've seen from my past experiences. You should try SitePoint for bigger sales.

From experience, I was listing one of my sites for $800, and no1 bought it. I listed it the next day on Sitepoint for $2000 and someone bought it within 3 hours.

I think you will have to provide to buyer more than just change nameservers :) transfer domain or your account login.
however, I've never sold site on DP yet..

Keep a reserve price in your auction, and allow people to start bidding at that point. That saves your time and others' too - You are assured of a sum that you think is the least minimum valuation of your site, and since the reserve is already met when bidding starts, there is bound to be a winner.

Price varies - most people base it on revenue. It depends on your niche, the general earnings of other sites in your niche , the cost it takes to maintain the site etc.
