    Hello people.

I stopped using this IBM Thinkpad awhile ago but now i need to use it again since my other computer broke down. But, the Thinkpad has a BIOS password and hardrive password which IBM claims can't be removed, i have no idea what i set the password to.
I downloaded the manual for my model (X200) and followed the instructions on how to remove power on and hardrive passwords. Naturally, it didn't work, even when i removed the battery and back up battery. When i tryed to start without any batteries i got a message saying error defualt bios settings will be used and than after that the password is still there, i hit f1 during post and the password prompt pops up.
After doing allot of research i landed at this website http://sodoityourself.com/hacking-ibm-thinkpad-bios-password/ apparently it works but i have no experience with soldering or electronics. The laptops warranty expires in 2012. So, i need help answering the following questions: Is it worth attempting the soldering hack? Is there another way to bypass the password without having to solder anything? And once i remove the Power on password (if i ever do) how do i remove a HD password? I hope someone who had to go through this before can help me out. Thanks.

(Naturally i dont want to have to throw away my pc cause its pretty new)
