How do I promote my Indian forum

Please help me I want to promote my Forum
bring user to my forum and make them post / create thread.

I Want to start contest and pay 20$/Rs 1000 for contest

Some contest would be for Indians only.

but the problem is how do I get Maximum number of people know about this contest and participate.

is 20$/RS 1000 a reasonable prize money?

Via social media is probably your best value for time and money

Try writing personalized emails to related industry webmasters, build a rapport with them, and inform them regarding your competition. It's cheap and effective, so long you don't SPAM the email.

as for prize money, it all depends on the scale of the competition ... relative, so cannot comment.

Use the power of social media. Facebook and Twitter are so popular nowadays. Go to related indian forums active and post in their classified sections. You can also opt to advertise in those related forums, blogs, sites or communities to maximize your time in your campaigns.

Search Google and look for popular indian forums. go to quantcast ( dot ) com and check if their traffic is enough for you or not.repeat the same process until you have something like 5+ forums. join them all. start posting and place your contest ad in your signature. keep doing that

 

Promote the contest in money making forum and in webmaster forum. You will win!

 

You might also consider LinkedIn and MeetUp. Typing in "India" in Meetup.com brought up quite a bit of results.

Here's another way to search both of those sites for possible visitors for your site:

Replace linkedin.com with meetup.com to find other groups.

Someone already mentioned the technique of joining other forums to promote your product. And this does work. This technique really works. I make cash off of rear-window decals and other such things from this method on various sites. There are forums for just about anything out there now. Another option is searching for newsgroups. Provide useful content to the group and mentioning your contest with a link will also bring traffic.

You should also look for blogs related to the subject of your forum and post useful comments on those blogs with a link back to your site.

BTW I prefer Indian traffic other popular forum have policy of not promoting indian forum my signature were removed in the past....

facebook and twitter have lots of Indians
for promting on twitter and facebook I would have to learn "quickest way to reach maximum audience" without spending huge amount....

I have tried to contact Various Indian page owners either they are not intersted in promoting my offer or they are MORE inclined to sell or they charge very HEAVY amount for this work..

I think I will checkout twitter and facebook for promotions

social media is the best way to get traffic that will stay on your forum as long as they found fun topics. creat a facebook fan page and post daily funny pics with status "How many likes for this uncle tom?"

Have you signed up for any cricket forums? Another way to generate links. You should also consider a lightbox advertising your contest when someone visits your page. Make it pop up every 3rd visit until they fill out the contest form or until the end of the contest.
