How do I play a dvd over a LAN?

    Is it possible to play a dvd on my laptop by accessing it over the network on my desktop pc? The laptop doesn't have a dvd player so I am wondering if it can be done and how? Both computers run xp.

    Hi,
    Yes it is possible just share your dvd drive copy the tracks to your laptop hd and run it through dvd player(I mean software)

    I have VLC, how do I do it?

    EDIT:
    I just tried that but it don't like to copy all the files over, gives me a file system error.
