I am writing an eBook and I want to place a copyright on it so that nobody will copy it, resell it and what not.

How would I go about doing that?

You can't prevent people from copying your ebook. All you can do is try and limit it by password-protect it and generate a new PDF document-password pair for each ebook you sell, also putting a disclaimer at the bottom of each page to discourage those who want to resell it.

Enforcing that copyright is going to be the hard part.

Said simply you can't. You have to catch them, then pursue them.

You should register your copyright ownership with the United States Copyright office. Copyright registration will provide you the leverage you need to curb infringement. Otherwise, you will have trouble stopping people from illegally copying or distributing your book.
