i am trying to use meta tags but its not giving me the best results how else do you think i should optimize my website so that search engines give me a better ranking specially google
Meta tags were useful 10 years ago. The only meta still in use is the description since it's provide the description of your website on the search engine results pages. Today if you want to rank you'll need proper on-page optimization (good keywords in <title> and <h1>) and good content. But most of all you'll need great backlinks, and a lot of them if you're in a competitive niche. Keep in mind that on-site is only 20% of the work, and off-site (backlinks) is what you need to focus on.
meta tags is still useful as far as i know. getting backlinks from related site is gonna be your best option after on-page optimization.
Get your on-page optimization right first, then work on off-site. Get your page titles right, images need alt tags, and great keyword usage. Focus on making the end user happy with your content. If you blog every day, then you'll find yourself getting more pages indexed and see more search engine rankings over time. In 4-6 months you should see your traffic hitting decent numbers.
Google doesnt give more priority for meta tags. Add your keywords on title. use unique content for all pages. get links from quality sites. Increase your profile visibility through social media networks.
