I have a FB page and Twitter account and would like to generate a discussion on the best "things" I should post on them for my gym equipment website http://www.kingsofcardio.com/. Should I post corny motivational quotes? Vids of people working out?
My rule of thumb is to have a ratio of 1:5 promotional to informational content shared on your wall. For every 5 posts you share about anything related to gyms and working out, you can post one linked to your site. Any kind of share will be appreciated. Fun, motivational, informational content are always well received. Also, have fun with memes and create something funny. Also use your wall as a blog for your site. Post updates, interact with customers, get people involved in what you do on the website.
thanks Luke. I'm having a hard time finding consistent relevant posts since I'm in sales. Like what would foot locker post every day that wouldn't seem too corny?
Why don't you find out for yourself and like their page? You can learn a lot by looking at big players' facebook pages. It's all about the products you sell. You can link to an article regarding what kind of running shoes one should buy, or that famous tennis player that uses a tennis racket you have in store. Maybe you can link to some famous bodybuilder's articles... Be creative and curious. My 3 top tips regarding social media promotion are: 1 post or more per hour take 1 hour of your time, maybe early in the morning, and scan the web for interesting articles you find interesting and want to share. Schedule every post in this application called Buffer for automated facebook posting.
I think the ratio of 3:2 is better. write content just a little more than you would post an offer. =)
