The factors are common for both google & yahoo except the following points: yahoo answer
    - keyword oriented domain
    - submission in yahoo directory

I agree with everyone...I would also suggest doing an overall link building (Internal & External). The search engines can be funky when they want to, but I usually will end up organically in the top 10 for a keyword on the big 3 search engines when I do white hat link building. The SE algorithms are always changing what they like, so check out where the top 10 results are coming from when you type in your keyword into a search engine. Make sure you look in the top 10 for the web 2.0 sites like squidoo or whatever and get a link on those. Beyond that, do a backlink check on your competitors showing up in the top 10. (Try using backlinkwatch.com). Sorry if this has came across as SEO 101, but I never really have just focused on Yahoo before. In the past I used rank checkers for Yahoo/google/MSN and then if I didn't have time to really focus on keeping my organic placement, I would just slap up a PPC campaign on Yahoo.

    Hoped this helped,

    Best wishes!

Also if you want your visitor to have greater experience while searching through Yahoo to your site, read through this document: "developer.yahoo.com/searchmonkey" (I can't post live link yet...so you need to copy and paste this link to your web browser :))
It allows you to have your product's thumbnail, rating and other useful information to display on Yahoo's search query. Its a great way to attract clicks even if you are not on the first result from keyword search

use meta tags found in your HTML that can be read by some web spiders and search engines.select at least three or four keywords since keywords will lead you to higher ranking, and do not forget that the title is the most important piece of information since it will allow for anyone to go directly to your site.

Much is talked about search engine optimisation techniques and what is required to get to the top of any particular search engine. But, most of these discussions centre around what is required for Google optimisation.

One of the best methods to optimize your Flash pages is to use the NOEMBED tag, this works much like the NOFRAMES tag to index the sites built with frames. Text content is then inserted between the noembed tags.
