I have a page that is at .....com/forums and I want to move the /forums to the root of the site. How do I do this without losing information?
Depends... If it is a "forum" - you would have to move all contents of /forum/ into your root folder... Then simply update the config file/database records with the new paths...
I did that. Everything looks okay but when you login, it says login was fine but then I'm not logged in anymore. It keeps doing that. I looked in the config file and nothing looked like it needed changing. Any suggestions?
Pages may be moved to a new title if the previous name is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or for a host of different housekeeping reasons such as that it is not the common name of the topic or it is an article that was created as a subpage and is ready to "go live". When a page is renamed, its page history is attached to the new name, and the previous title is automatically redirected to the new name (bots and administrators have the option of suppressing the redirect). Only autoconfirmed users may move pages due to persistent pagemove vandalism.
