I'm setting up a screensaver website, where I'll be giving away screensavers for free. Now, there are programs like ZangoCash and VombaCash, but they put loads of crap on the downloaders' computers and obviously I don't want that. After each screensaver is installed, a NotePad file is automatically opened; I'm currently using that to place text links, but is there any way I could monetize the downloads themselves? I've heard that you can put code into the NotePad file to make it automatically redirect places; if yes, how do I do that and which websites do I point it at? Also, do you know of any digital products (like IM smilies, for example) that have a decent affiliate program (per lead?). I'm using Adsense on the website. Thanks for your time
Just place a shortcut to a website. And call it ReadMe or something. So basically do what you're doing now with notepad except make internet explorer or firefox pop up and take them to a site.
I have Adsense on the website. It just seems like when they download it, there's potential for earnings; I'm looking into Smiley Central's affiliate program so hopefully it goes well
You could also make a second version of every screensaver, better quality and more pictures and sell those for 5 dollars. There are programs like www.esellerate.com and www.digibuy.com that you can use to sell these screensavers. Hope that helps greetz, jobic
Here's a better way to do it. When you use a screensaver maker, it puts out a file like screensaver.exe. Rename screensaver.exe to screensaver.scr. Now open up good ol' notepad and type: Now save as a .bat file. Then right-click on the bat file and select "create a shortcut". Name the shortcut Setup.exe. Zip it all together and there ya go.
