How do I make sure PHPBB require a email verification?

I have a PhpBb forum which is targeted by junk spammers.

Please help me setup the forum where the users must be registered.

Force email conformation drugging the registration, they had to be verified with the email.

Hope this will slow those guys.

I had to increase the bandwidth on that site.

Appreciate any help.

It's been a while since I used phpBB, but all the things you are requesting should be found in the admin panel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. (Perhaps not so much help but at least you know where to look )

Hi,

In the administration panel look for General Configuration -> Account Activation. Set it to User.

I found out on my site that some spam bots could even get away through the email validation. I then added a tricky question to the registration form, like how much is 3+5 and added a code snippet to the php that will verify it.

From that point on, I did not get anymore spam. And most of my visitors were able to answer this question on the first time.

 

I would also activate the Image Verification option in the control panel.

Thanks for responding, now, I could not login to my admin.

Tried to chagne the password from mySQL admin and used MD5 not sure if that helps or not.

I got to get to the admin first.

There is too much junk to be deleted.

This is there, but there is no verification, create a user id and just post span that is the current setup.

Once they have the user id they are keep coming back.

Only issue is how to stop spammers and how to get people to post.

When does requesting help became spam.

You just started on DP and you can call other people spammers.

If you look at my board, I had to delete all the posts as they are spam.

I do not have time to take care of the web site for a while and now I am trying to get back.

Don't be an ass in others threads. If you know how to help you can help if not you may just read and go, don't defame other people.
