How do I make sure I won't get scammed by this design company?

Hi. The company is called rubiksroom and is from South Africa, this is their website http://rubiksroom.com/

As you can see there is nothing much on there but they showed me a few of their works and is very professional. They were also able to produce a concept for me based on my existing template in 1 day.

This is the first time I'm dealing with a large sum of money online - $500 for a design. They originally said $1000 and I asked for $500 and they said sure. What can I do to prevent myself from being scammed? Will using Paypal be a good idea since they have that dispute center thing?

Please give me some advice. Thanks.

I would suggest you to use scriptlance escrow service here.
Both of you will be benefited.

Just post a project there and ask him to bid and then make a escrow transaction once you get your design just release the payment and all done.!!!

Are you paying before delivery or after it?

I assume it is the former, and Escrow may not be a bad option if the other party agrees to it.

However I must admit that I've seen very few companies who bring their price down by 50% when the customer wants to bargain.

Try to look for them at a website I recently used - Scam Search. You can find thousands of scammers here, check if it includes rubiksroom.

Always hire professional freelancers from freelancing sites or may be here at DP.
cause you can not trust individual's company for you huge projects.

    Hey there,

Just to let you know that we have never, and will never scam anyone. We are a solid digital agency with offices in Cape Town, South Africa.

We have worked on projects for many local and EU clients who are all very happy with our service. It is our business practice to take 50% upfront and 50% on completion. Also with this specific case we dropped the price because it would just be for the design, not for the implementation or anything else.

    Regards,

    TRR Staff
