How do i make pages auto update?

    i have this code inplace

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html $1\.php

    to convert my php files to html, is there away to make this show up automaticly on the website?

    as they are still showing up as .php but .html extension works fine with them
