Adsense will only make you money if you have a site that already draws good traffic.
I'm not exactly sure how the ads are displayed. But I think the more popular site
you have, the better the ads that are displayed and the more money you make.
It is VERY possible though if you can market the site well enough.
    Ever heard of Whateverlife.com?
Its owned by a 17 year old girl. Her site started pulling in over 2 million hits per year.
She's making over $1,000,000 per year now from ad revenue.
    Hope this helps. Good luck.

Placement is very important too. You will get more clicks if ads are at the top. But be sure to do this when you have good traffic. ;)

The ads displayed are decided by the type of text and meta content you have on each page of your website, they don't become better depending on your traffic volume, everyone is treated the same. :)

What is your website for? Do you sell something, or do you plan on making money selling ad space like a magazine or newspaper.

You could go with some pop up ads...they're annoying but they get you money and if you're site is really good, chances visitors won't care about the ads.

You just need a reason for people to visit your site. If you just use search engine tricks and other dirty methods to get users to your site it might work to start with but it won't last. If your site gives users a good reason to keep going back you'll get your userbase through simple word of mouth(or message board?) and your ads will start paying off. Just remember you want your users to be authentic. If your site was about tech news then your ads will be related to tech news. So if a user is tricked into coming through to your site when their really looking for antique furniture, their not gonna click on the ad for the latest Dell laptop, meaning their visit has done nothing but waste your bandwidth.

It seems that (I genuinely am NOT trying to be offensive or snidey) you don't know much about the subject so I'm guessing you don't have a killer web app up your sleeve. If that's the case, my advice would be to maybe look at something like Wordpress, get it set up on your own domain and post (and allow others to post) content that other people want to read.

Adsense pays if user clicks or via CPM = or for every time 1000 ads are shown, depends on the ad BTW

I know when you're first getting started into web design and marketing things can be a bit confusing, especially if you're trying to figure out a way to make money! But since you're a n00b, I'll try to break it down for you,

There are 3 main ways of making money online"

    • Selling a product or service
    • Advertisements
    • Affiliate Marketing

In order to sell a product or service you are going to need a website or medium to reach your consumers. You can either setup a storefront or ecommerce website, or use one of the many auction sites, message boards, or classiedfied ads websites.

To make money advertising, it's best if you currently have a website or blog that is getting traffic, you can easily put Google Adsense, Text Ads, or Banner ads on it to bring in some cash from advertisers.

The best and easiest way in my opinion to make money online when you're a n00b is Affiliate Marketing. That is when you promote other websites and products, and receive commissions based on your referrals/signups. This a great because you don't have to spend time developing a product, building a website, and promoting it to get traffic. You can find already quality products and sites to promote and earn from them!

I have worked with many affilaite programs in the past, but one of the best that I have found so far is the MoreNiche network. They have quality products and sites to promote, plus they have HUGE payouts! Not only that, they provide all affiliate marketers with free tools, guides, ebooks, site templates, and many other promotional resources. And, they have a forum where you can chat with other affiliates.

I'd definately recommend you check it out, you can visit their site at MoreNiche.com or use my referral link in my signature and receive up to $45 in signup bonuses! It's completely free to sign up too!
