Using Photoshop Elements 6 how do I make the background of a logo transparent? For example, when I download the Facebook logo because the website page is white where it is, the logo shows the white background when I add it to my site. Any help would be much appreciated.
Make sure you have no background (on the layers). Save it as PNG (not GIF). Use a magic marquee tool, and click the white area and hit delete/back space key. http://www.ehow.com/how_2161826_transparent-background-adobe-photoshop-elements.html - Virtualize
By using marquee tool, you can make your page background transparent, select the area cut delete......................so on.
simply select the layer you are working on and reduce the opacity, it becomes transparent. cheers Josh
As you already know how to make it transparent, I would recommend that you get a newer version of Photoshop. I had this problem (Now a while ago, haha!) but when you upgrade, you wouldn't regret it. Elements is generally for photo editing as I remember.
Most image software will ask you if you want to create or make a transparent image at start up. Save it as .png format when done, not .jpg or any other format if you want transparent. They do tend to get a bit larger in size than other formats though depending on what you are doing.
