How do I make a gadget blog more interactive?

Alright I'm redesigning the site and am willing to add some new features.

I have recently added polls and just today a rate the gadget script. Besides a forum (I have little if no regular members) what else can I do without going overboard?

I think a forum is a way to GET regular members, not something to put up only when you have regular members.

Thanks Matt. I'll think about that. Don't know if I've got the cash to pump out a Vbulletin forum.

Would PHPBB be fine, or are people gonna have a fit?

most people like vbulletin, but SMF is almost the same..

Yep. I desinged that by myself. I'm in the processing of giving the site a complete overhaul so that's why I need any idea I can get to make it better.
