Hi, I'm hoping you can help me out! I am going to be releasing an ebook very soon. It's a unique activity book for kids, to draw viral traffic to my parenting advice site. I have a few questions about how to do this best. I'd like to offer members of my list, and some of my partners' lists a code that lets them access the ebook for free. I'd like to set up a shopping cart with a coupon code. The page says the ebook costs $19, and an email promotion gives them code XYZA to enter, which will make the ebook free. How do I do this? My site is hosted with Thirdsphere, if that helps you. What is the simplest way to implement this idea? Thanks!
Unless there is some 3rd party script that you could go ahead and install to do this (…which there probably is, check out hotscripts.com), you’re going to have to get something custom coded. For a simple shopping cart system that includes the ability to use coupon codes… I can’t see it costing more than $100 - $500. I am sure if you make a post in the “looking to hire†forum you will be inundated with quotes.
Thanks! Nothing like this already exists in the popular shopping carts like oscommerce, 1stshopping cart, 2ndcheckout, etc.....????
You could also try looking into the bigger shopping cart systems and asking them directly via email if this can be done with their system or if you'd have to install a 3rd party script. If you need a script coded, I can recommend somebody... I have somebody working on an order script right now that will include a cupon code feature. I like your website, and your ebook sounds neat. I plan to make a website in the near future on parenting, targeted at my local area... I think I'll be linking to you...
Most good shopping cart programs allow you to create your own custom Coupons, Gift Certificate, E-Coupons, etc. Your Host, Thirdsphere offers ZenCart and CubeCart which both have this feature available so you should have no problem doing what you need.
I thought they would, but I haven't used one for a few years now. I usually stick to simpler setups and custom code.
Thanks, everyone I've never heard of ZenCart nor CubeCart, now I have some homework for this evening....
There is an example of how to do a simple coupon code with a PayPal button somewhere in the PayPal developer's stuff. I'll see if I can find it when I get a chance to look. I've also seen some other paid scripts out there. A shopping cart for one product seems like overkill to me.
REALLY??!! I emailed paypal and they told me they only support coupons for ebay stuff, not regular...
