I've been looking around for a while now on how to get a company listed in the UK Yahoo Local portal http://uk.local.yahoo.com/ and can't for the life of me find a way of doing this. I have found this page http://listings.local.yahoo.com/signup/create_1.php?type=fl which seems to be USA only. I have also contacted Infoserve who provide the data for the UK local listings and was called back by a rather pushy sales person wishing to sell me a featured listing for £325 - after explaining that I just wanted to know how to place a free listing he kept on pushing and eventually hung up on me after i told him I didn't have the authority to purchase a featured listing. (My advice - don't deal with Infoserver is you can help it!!) So can anyone shed any light on how I add a business to the UK Yahoo Local portal? Thanks in advance guys.
I guess there is no easy way of adding a business to the UK listings. I have to say I am not at all impressed with Yahoo, they make no effort to provide any advice to UK businesses who want to market on their local service and when you contact them they pester you with pushy sales staff. Fore-shame Yahoo, you used to have some good services, what happened?...
yahoo charges up to £300 somthing for a year listing in their directory .Beside free sitemap submission i havnot seen any other free submit type services from yahoo. But its good to be listed in yahoo directory as they have high pr .
Yeah I get the feeling they've sold out. I'd like to get a few of my clients on the Yahoo maps listings in the UK but am not prepared to recommend they pay £300 odd per listing.
Actually Yahoo use a company called InfoServe to do all their UK listings. And I think they are still free so you can save your client £300. You will need to read the details and help before you can proceed. Anyway you need to submit to local business directories as well to get noticed by Yahoo local search.
