How do I know that the google penalty was removed from my website?

It was Pr2, dropped to PR 0 and it is PR1 now (shouldn't it be PR2 again?). I made a reconsideration request.

Check Google Webmaster Tools - that would be the best way.

I already checked that. What should I see there?

My site was never removed from google's index. My visits just dropped and my PR also

it may be very difficult, if not impossible to tell. While you were penalised other factors for your site may have changed, e.g. the number of backlinks or the PR of your backlinks, so that when the penalty was removed, your PR was "restored" to 1 not the previous value of 2.

Submit your sitemap to google, then wait on for 1-2 week and check if it gets indexed.
As simple as that, if you get rollin then ur website is on track.

There are many reasons for pr drop........ It may be that you have stop updating your website or else you are giving more outbound links from your site.. I dont think that it was google penalty..

Even my pr dropped... i started building links and i updated fresh content for 2 months.. again my pr increased to +2.... :)

You need regular updates to protect your pr..
