Ive found that for a particular term I am targetting Overture only displays the singular version where as wordtracker displays both (plural getting more searches). Based on that Is it safe to assume that the plural is searched for more across the board? Another question - if your anchor text is 'blue widgets' are you targetting just 'blue widgets' or 'blue widget' as well?
Anchortext variation is key to any SEO campaign... With regard to the OV results - this is something I have often thought about but unfortunatley not had an opportunity to explore fully... I'd love to know if anyone has had any thoughts on this.
I read that Overture sees plural and singular as the same thing, so I would assume that the plural is searched more. However, as SEbasic said, you should vary your anchor text. Why not go for both keywords? I expect that they would help each other, if you see what I mean. J.
The easy way is to run an absolute match adwords campaign. bid into the top 5 and you will have your data for a few ££'s in no time.
Yes, Overture makes everything I've seen singular. Wordtracker is a lot more accurate but like OWG said, AW is your best bet. Another way to find out is to search for the two variations. If loads more type plural, you can deduct that loads more will search in plural though this might not be a safe assumption for some industries.
