i want to jumpstart my website http://www.moneybites.com which is a article site for making money online. i believe it has some real potential, but right now it has two members one of whom is myself. Ive just introduced a member of the month contest for cash prizes. Any other suggestions on how i can get this one rolling and out there (excluding social bookmarking and SEO), just some ideas to get members, because i feel this site could become a very valuable sharing source for people and a place for people to show of new programs etc. thanks in advance
Get GOOD articles going and submit them all over the place. Have them continue on to your site. Don't give them the entire article. Get others to critique them BEFORE submitting them! Offer free tips in your articles, ads, submissions, and whatnot. Submit interesting stuff, money wise to DIGG, and other such sites. How can they make money, save money, get money for college.... Find sites singles hang out at. Find sites single parents hang out at. Find sites students hang out at. Put in a weekly column, ad, in your newspaper(s) with free tips. If the paper likes it, they may offer you a real column for free. Advertise in all the search engines. Advertise in money sites. Get others to critique your ads BEFORE placing them. Get others to critique your site before doing anything. If your site sucks.... Go to message boards and contact their members to get their opinion on your content. Tell them that you have read their posts, and you would value their comments. Butter them u pto get them to do it. Devote one hour a day doing this, and you may have quite a list going there. Type in "money making networks" for more avenues. Put a "send to a friend" form right there on your page for your new visitors to fill out. Social networking sites. Do NOT make your link live! Have them copy and past it. Be subtle. Put it underneath your name. You want to give the impression that you are there to GENUINELY help people. If they like you, they will copy and paste your url in their address window. Yahoo and other groups.Same thing. Put down your name, and your URL. DayTipper.com Submit stuff that doesn't necessarily have to do with anything about your site. If they like your submissions, they may still go to your site. It could be funny, weird, odd, interesting facts, and, yes, on money too, but give it a different spin, like how the local teenager quit school to do her site full time. Look for such stories to share.
Thanks perry, good tips, rep given, i feel its a catch 22 right now, there isn't enough content to draw members into the website but there aren't enough members to post the content. Hence why i started the contest, to try to get more members, i strongly feel if i can hit a certain threshold of members it will get the ball rolling.
Well, why can't you put the info in there for the newcomers to read? Do a month's worth? Once you get rocking on your site, repeat many of the postings again. Just add a little bit to it to change it around. "Update" sort of thing you can tell them. This will save you some time, and perhaps a bit of frustration trying to come up with new stuff to submit. Put in a link stating something like, "Readers' Most Favorite," where you could put your best articles. Many visitors are looking for such. If I may add a comment about your site? The repeated image of the bitten off "coin" going alllll the way down the page is a bit much, irritating. Good luck with it. I have a feeling about this one.
I have been blogging for over a year now and i wrote my experiences in last year recently and I am sure you will love many new techniques to get GOOD traffic.. just read it and I would love to hear about the article and your suggestions.. Is Anyone Reading Your “Quality†Blog Articles?
reason why there is a coin going down my page, is that is my USER avatar, when other users sign up and upload/pick other avatars and post, there will be an array of user avatars going down the page, of course i can always just make them not show there.
