I've had a static site set up at http://www.gobackpacking.com for many years, designed with Net Objects Fusion. In 2007, I began producing all my new content through a WP blog at http://www.gobackpacking.com/Blog I would now like my home page, http://www.gobackpacking.com, to be a static page set up via my WP blog. I would then link to my blog from the navigational menu. I do not want this change to break any existing links to my blog or its content. An example of the design I seek can be seen at http://nomadicmatt.com I've wanted to make this change for a long time. I hope it is easier than I think. I appreciate any help or suggestions! Thanks!
Under the Reading Settings of your Wordpress blog, there's an option called Front Page displays. You can either choose "Your latest posts" or "A static page". That should do it.
Or just edit the 'home' file under appearance. delete the dynamic content and replace with static text and styling
Thanks guys Brock - I don't know that it would work because I have Wordpress installed in the subdirectory "/Blog" not the root directory. itsallwhite - that option sounds like there is too much room for me to make a mistake.... Here's the response I got from a guy on the Wordpress forum....and I think this is the way I'd go when ready:
Maybe the thing to do is updgrage your entire theme, it looks as if the other site was customized form one of the www.studiopress.com themes
