How do I insert a file in my public_html directory? Where is it?

I was looking at my message board files on my server's FTP client, and I could not find where the public_html directory is. Is the public_html directory just where the first level is, where I see 3 folders, one for my forums, one for my smileys, and one for my statistics?

I'm trying to drop a file into the public_html directory that will tell the spiders where not to crawl.

the public_html directory is your main www folder, where your index.htm(l) etc is. so if the link in your sig is the domain you are questioning it is where you find the folder called forums

 

OK, so if I am looking to place a file in the public_html directory, then I am NOT going to place it IN the folder called forums, but it will be placed in the same directory where the forums folder is, correct?
