How Do I Increase My Forum's Ranking In The SERPS?

Forums seem so hard to add content to because you don't want to push the forum down past the fold where people can't see it. Should I still be writing good content and sticking it at the top for G or is there a better, more asthetically-pleasing way of getting ranked higher without destroying the look of your forum?

    Hi,
You could change the url for each thread.
    1# yoururl.com/showthread.php?t=THREAD TITLE
    2# yoururl.com/showthread.php?t=NUMBERS
Use url 1# instead of url 2#.

If you are running vBulletin, make sure you select appropriate keywords. They let you set them for each page in their configuration settings. Not sure about other forum programs.

Yes, I've done that on vBulletin. Is that all I can do? Should I put some copy in there on the main forum, and if so, above or below the forum itself?
