    The .com domain I want to get is on On-hold (redemption Period) by 1and1 the registrars. I'm afraid of it getting snatched up by some pagelanding internet wizkid who dose not evenwant to make it into a site.

    My question is how do I make sure I'm the first to get a hold of this domain when the redemption period is over? (Also how long is this period?)

    It expired 2009-01-10 and is currently showing as;
    Registrar Status: redemptionPeriod

    Where exactly on that site can I get that service? Is there a price you have in mind that they would charge?

    The Redemption Period is a period of 30 days following the deletion of a domain name from a registrar's database. After the 30 day redemption period, the domain enters a 5 day Pending Delete period. After the Pending Delete period, the registry releases the name to the general public, on a first come-first served basis.

    TheNoose is right. you should try to put a back order on the name ASAP. SnapNames is a good service, so is Pool.com, if memory serves.

    Search for the domain name you want (it's on the homepage). It will come up with the whois etc.

    Minimum bidding price is $59 (you only pay if you win).
