How do I get UK visitors to my site?

My website www.iwantafreemacbook.com is currently 10th position in google.com for 'Free Macbook' but its not ranking at all in the UK google.

I would prefer UK visitors to US.

Any ideas how I can rank on the UK google?

 

I need the site to rank well on google.co.uk.

I own http://www.iwantafreemacbook.co.uk so do i...


1. copy (text etc..) from com to co.uk and redirect com to co.uk

2. just copy and have two site with the same info.

3. ....... any other ideas?

I dont want to change my google.com position

 

Here is how to rank well for any local search not just UK:

1- Get a .*.uk .TLD (Top Level Domain) Domain name.
2- Host your website in a UK based hosting company with UK IP Address.
3- Beside of building backlinks and adding fresh content: Focus more on getting backlinks from the same .TLD
(UK TLD in your case).
4- If you want more UK searchers than US --> Change your website Local GEO Targeting in the WMT* settings.

hey me again lol. I decided to just make a new website on the .co.uk domain. I have reseller hosting but its based in the US. Will having a .co.uk domain be enough to be ranked in the UK google? or is it best to have a host in the uk too?

 

I think if you want to rank in google then you need UK hosting.

if all else faisl and you have a little money, you can always use google adwords to drive very specific traffic to your site.

For your information, Google treats all .TLD the same no matter if it's a .COM or .BLA.BLA

TLD = Top Level Domain

 

Having your site hosted on a UK based server will definitely help.

 

A .uk domain is the easiest way

 

you do NOT need a .co.uk to rank in the UK,

all you need is to be on is a UK Server...

even if you had a .com on a uk server it wil be found in a uk search

 

Never heard domain name can do suck kind of thing.
Also i think .co.uk is penalized for having duplicate
content as www.iwantafreemacbook.com

 

you can submit your site in more UK based directories like hotfrog.co.uk.

 

Get more backlinks from .co.uk websites and, as previous posters said, get hosting on an UK server ...

 

The .co.uk has the same information but i have re written it and worded id differently, so it shouldnt get penalized.

I have printing services related site url is http://www.delhiprinter.com well ranked in google.co.in from all keywords. But problem is that not seen from any keyword in google.com. While the domain name is .com and hosted from usa server.

Please guide me what i need to rank in google.

 

Do more off page optimization work on .uk directories and get more back links.

 

There's an option in Google Webmaster Panel where you can set your "target".. did you look at that?

Also, try some geo target banners and ads.


PS. another option you may consider - make the free macbook offer friendly for the US visitors as well. (detect Ip?)
