As i type this post a blog i just created 13 hours ago has gotten 120 hits just by becoming a member of this site and having my blog updates next to my name.

For traffic you need SEO.. for seo you need to start creating backlinks for your site. Search For high PR sites and try to place your links there.

Sign up to several forums and add your url in the signature, link exchange, purchase some backlink services that someone is providing, advertise on facebook/twitter and such. That works for me. So far anyways.
