Hello, i am pretty new to this forum and new to adsense. I have been reading many forums and basically came to the conclusion that in order to get started with a good flow of income with adsense you need good content and traffic. I am having trouble with traffic. Please let me know how you guys get traffic to your sites.

    thanks alot

Go out to the nearest busy intersection during rush hour. Take a picture, upload and post on your site. Insert the img and Bam! Instant traffic.

No seriously though, traffic comes with time. If you keep building and writing, eventually someone will find your site. If you create a three page site, and then just let it sit, you'll go nowhere. You need to keep it fresh, and don't give up with the constant work.

Don't expect any huge numbers until a few months into the site's life, at least. No one makes millions in their first weeks.

Link exchange with other site that's relevant in your topic
Provide free offer for your visitor, like free tutorial
If visitors become interested to your site, notify them when you update your site, provide a form for it, also let them to tell their friend (another form to it)

I agree, it does depend on your site though....forums for instance will gradually increase traffic over time or as you get more back links and your se position improves you will get more traffic.

You can do that SEO thing for MSN or Yahoo, or just give it time until Google lets you out of the sandbox (it'll take months). Personally, I've never "SEO'ed" anything, and my sites rank pretty high on MSN and Yahoo. Go figure.

Or you can just buy your traffic via Adwords.

I'm pretty sure you've used seo. SEO includes but not limited to: meta tags, proper html/xml, proper linking strategies. Don't cut yourself short just because you don't consider yourself a 'professional'.

That said for all three engines you need relevant inbound links combined with onsite link structure (or full sitemap, linked to from index). Noone I know that has decent traffic has it without building links or from gaining free links (for having content) from high traffic sites.
