How do I get to the top of Yahoo? DMOZ Required?

I've had pretty good luck getting into the top 5 results of Google for a lot of great keywords. But for Yahoo, I haven't been able to have the same success.

Can anyone give me some tips? I've tried getting more links, with solid keywords, from various locations, over time, solid content, sites are several years old, but none of that has worked hasn't worked in Yahoo like it does in Google.

The only thing I can tell that the sites ahead of me have is they are usually listed in DMOZ. However, I haven't been able to get any of my sites listed in DMOZ. They are all what I would consider high quality sites, better than most listed ahead of me in terms of delivering content.

Any suggestions other than getting in DMOZ. And if that's the only way, I don't think theres any hope and I should just give up with that. :(

Try for dmoz and yahoo directory both. Your website's ranking will improved if your website listed in yahoo directory, I am not 100% sure about it but I saw most of the websites approved in yahoo directory has ranked well in yahoo.

I just had content and a year old domain name. I got to the top of yahoo for certain keywords. I had submitted to about 30 - 40 directories without DMOZ

Yes, I agree, I did the same. I submitted to about 50 not so popular directories and I got listed in yahoo easily and faster. :)
