Alrite I launched a website just recently that sends Free SMS in North America using TeleFlip's service. How do I begin to promote the heck out of the site. And in a cost effective manner. I dont' have too much cash and I dont' have a credit card ATM. Thanks so much Skinny
You can post on forums with a link in your sig (which I see you're already doing), you could try buying some myspace bulletins, you could try using adwords with cheaper keywords, there's tons of ways.
I like your design, but remember this site is in no way unique. Whats your budget for the advertising?
@FreewayWebhost Well the Script only works for Canada and US. I did test it and it worked for me. But I see you are also in the US. @ drig yup I know that it's just a fun site . As for advertising I dunno $20. Skinny
Then id try: - myspace profile - forum posting - make an mini iframe version so users can place the tool on their website - social bookmarking buttons on site - myspace bulletins
I agree with the myspace ideas. This would definitely appeal to the myspacers. Also try adBrite, it's pretty cheap. message Also, how do you plan to get income from this? Adsense? ps. I didn't get a text message
I'm curious, if your budgetis limited, how do you pay the 2 cents per message of the 5000. With just a meager MySpace presence you could go over the 5000 in no time at all. Also, there are a lot of sites offering this service that don't work and are just collecting names and numbers so you may want to secure your page with a certficate to assure people you are above board.
True, I actually have no way of actually monitering the content (is that good or bad). But yes that will go up soon enough. @ check were you messaging withing US and Canada? I tested my script yesterday and received my message so I think it's either TeleFlips problem or your providers. BTW check are you using Alltel because Freeway earlier stated that he couldn't get his either. Skinny
What do you mean paying the $0.02 ? you dont pay anything with SMS services as the owner. It simple sends an email to their cellphone basically, they pay to receive as they would any other. I own http://www.InsaneText.com - its actually very hard to market to myspace, yeah it helps but its not amazing. I have over 160k friends to post bulletins to, doesnt help too much. My advice; Make something DIFFERENt or atleast to put yours in the group of maybe 10 websites that have that feature, and not the 10,000 that dont have it. ANd advertise that feature well. I can help with programming php/mysql if you need help, see the features i added to http://www.insanetext.com - like check inbox online, multiple messages sent out to dif. people, etc
Also why does teleflip.com charge for textmessages when you can just use your own script that sends to ex. ... lol
Telelflip doesnt charge for textmessages. You pay to receive them. And yes you can e-mail them just the same way you stated. But the site basically puts together the e-mail for you (in case you are really lazy). Teleflip will charge you if you send over 5000 messages from your e-mail. Skinny
