I was looking at some designs people make and I was wondering how do i get that look and feel from a website that says "$65 Template"? I think its something to do with the mix of colors I use but I dont know.
typically what makes premium themes worth their money isn't the æsthetics of the sites - colours are the easiest and fastest thing to change. What make s a premium theme worth its money is under the hood - the code. Is it a CMS template? does it have custom integrated or custom designed plugins? Does it have jQuery enhanced features like slides, animations or modal windows? Yes, premium designs often have good visual style because they are always made by professionals (where free themes can be made by, but aren't limited to professionals). Typically the people who purchase themes are graphic designers, because they can't do the code themselves, and they change the layout and style. Programmers don't require premium themes because they have the skills to easily modify any free and good-looking theme on their own. Also, 65$ is not the high-end of premium either....I've recently purchased a 70$usd wordpress layout, but I was really looking at a 120$ layout too. And it goes up from there, I've seen 300$ templates and all kinds of goodness.
The coding is mainly what your paying for in a design, If it's just the graphic then professional designs are clean, easy to read, or very well applied to a theme. The Vista style and glass style and minimalist style are all very modern and professional in appearance. (Provided they are fone by a good designer). T.Genius
Try to work out details and align your complete design perfectly. This is the most important if we're talking about the design itself in my opinion
