I have a feedburner link on my new blog which can be found at: seobloggers.net

However, I want to know how to promote the blog so that it starts getting readers/subscribers to the blog ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Some people do feed exchanges.

You could run a competition of sorts- a free domain, a free link or something like that. In order to participate, people should subscribe to your feed.

    1.
have your blog / RSS submitted to all feed/blog directories

    2.
make sure your RSS feed is in myYahoo, myG, my-xyz at least for all major platforms such as MSN, Y, G, ask.com, etc

    3.
PING all blog/rss directories accepting pings AFTER each new article posted

after a while you will see your number of subscribers climbing - just check your ACCESS_log file to see details.

    finally
its the reas visitor from major SE visiting your site or blog that may or NOT subscribe to your feeds. hence you need to make subscription easy by having
    - OPML for all feeds if someone loves to have ALL feeds always in hsi reader
    - all individual RSS feeds published with an icon for drag and drop subscription
    - and also have a widget such as "Add this"
    http://www.addthis.com/
or similar to make adding feeds to their myXYZ as easy as possible for all site visitors

if you continue to write good articles on your blog and comment on other blogs etc then the most important thing to do is make your rss feed details prominent - post them at the top of your sidebar, add a link underneath your posts and add a link to the footer too.

You could also write a page explaining what RSS is and tell people why its so useful

I recently made a post giving away free ebooks with a free script to everyone that subscribes to my rss feed. That gave me about 10 new subscribers so far. So give away free things to everyone that subscribes..You can see how I did it
    Do contests as well.

The most important tactic in my opinion to get people subscribe to your feed is to make them realize that if they subscribe, it will be their profit and not yours... (which in a way is surely true). When you make a good post, make sure you provide a "Subscribe to RSS" in that post just before the punchline/ending.

    That surely will help!

Well, pretty excellent content that stands out and that people can relate to definitely helps. A lot of people tell me they subscribed to my feeds because they like the way I write and my content... but you can also simply ask people if they like your content to subscribe too.

I have just subscribed to my own feed and the number of subscribed readers from feedburner has not increased on my blog ? Is this updated daily ?

Also, I just added a new thread and that has not come through on the email which I subscribed with ? Any ideas ?
