How do I get net-savvy people to click on ads?

Hello all, I'm pretty new to Adsense, being only in my third month of it. I have a website which is getting about 300 page requests per day, and I have content based around my hobbies, and around my area of knowledge which is ASP.NET & C#.

Ads on the hobbies pages do well, but ads on the "techy" pages do TERRIBLE. Like NO CLICKS AT ALL! However, the ASP.NET pages are more popular than the hobbies pages.

Has anyone found a way to get web-savvy people to click on their ads? Also, the ads themselves are so dull on the ASP.NET pages. I wouldn't click on them if I saw them. Is there any way to get more exciting ads?

working on this myself as I run webmasterspalace.com. It's not easy to get people to click on your ad's if they know there ad's!

Don't use adsense on sites like this. Write product reviews and stick adsense in these if you have to. Better still use affiliate links or PPM banners.

I agree. The hardest people to convince to click on your ads are people who know what adsense is.
Heres a few things iv found helps:

    Change the fonts to verdana.
Change the colours to look just like your site.
Put a picture next to or above the ads, so it looks like a link to a product or something.

    Cheers
    Steve

I have the same problem on a couple of my sites. It's funny cause when I see adsense on a site, and I like the site, I automatically tune the ads out.

If an ad is exceptionally well written and gets my curiosity, I'll click it though. But those are few and far between.

Market the site to non-techies...when they find out that they're in the wrong place, they'll click on the ads just to get out of it. Just kidding. I've had the same problem. It's probably better to use the ad space for something else other than Adsense.

Yes, I've taken it off and put some affiliate adverts for books on there. I don't know if it will be better, but it can't be worse.

Go for affiliate programs + reviews since web marketers often have money to spend, you may actually convert better than AdSense clickthroughs this way.

Best way is to remove "Ads by Goooogle" from your ads :) (I'm of course, kidding). You'll need to spend extra effort making them blend in, not make them stick out, and try to get ads targeted that web masters would be interested in :).

I know all this stuff about blending in of ads, and I've tried it. But these techie guys are smart, they probably hate adverts, and they are really targeted on finding answers, not on buying things. I'm going to try affiliate ads for a bit, but if that fails, I'll just take off the ads and put some links to other parts of my site that aren't so techy-focused.
