Have you read the guidelines? There is NO PLACE within them that says it takes 6 months, and according to the threads here on Digital Point, it can take 2 weeks to never... while 6 months may be the average, there are posts here that indicate the queue could actually have a several year waiting list!

And as for following the guidelines, that too is questionable. Some sites listed certainly do not fit them (some have fallen out of the guidelines, and I am not counting those). *shrug* Your post was not necessarily bad advice though... as on the off chance your site will be looked at by an editor worthy of editing, then chances are following the guidelines (at least from the add page) is your best bet for approval.

Unless of course you are the "end user" in which case following the guidelines is IMPOSSIBLE ;)

it may take from 2 weeks to several months. I wonder if there is no editor on category who will approve ?

well 200 editors is rather poor for such a BIG directory, many categories without editors

That is not including the editors with limited status... the active editor count, last I heard was around 600, of which 200 have power

if you are not so lucky like lottery winners then forget about the dmoz and promote your site with other options.

No category is without an editor.

I among many others are editors in every category in the directory.

We can always do with more.

Are you volunteering to spend your spare time, without any monetary payment to help, find out if you have what it takes by offering.

Don't also forget that we do not exist to list as many suggested sites as possible, but to build categories that we as editors have an interest in and which we think will be helpful to people who want categorised lists for browsing the internet.

There is no proof of that!

So you agree, it's NOT about the guidelines and is all about editors self interest?

Who? I'm just wondering about your post that I quoted in my last post. It's obvious that the suggestion pool might as well be a cess pool for all intents and purposes... what is truly important is 'editor interest'. Could that imply financial interest? Is that why you post Anonymously?
