    Hi,

I have a wide range of blogspot blogs. Some of them get good traffic daily, but the highest PR has been 1! What else do I need to get a higher PR? Is it possible for free blogs to get a decent PR?

    thanks in advance

write more posts and they all link back to the home page that will boost pagerank and also get some incoming links.

I've seen many blogger accounts even on the first page with Google. Good content can do anything.

Page Rank (PR) is a measure of how many backlinks your site has. The more links you have, the higher your PR. Google looks at links and PR as a way to measure how popular your site is. Popular sites have lots of links, not so popular sites have very few links.

If you want some tips on building backlinks, visit this section of digital point - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13

Some of the ways to build up backlinks include social bookmarking, blog commenting, forum signatures,,,, only to name a few.

Can I ask why do you want higher PR? Is it to sell backlinks? If it is to get higher traffic I don't think it makes any difference, I've seen PR 4 sites being outranked in the SERPS by Pr 0 sites.

Just curious as to your goal of higher PR.

Hey, I think kev has mentioned some good points here. That would be enough to clear your doubts. If you still have any, then here goes :-
---> Hey, there is no problem with free sites. You can still have good PR. The key is to blog daily with some interesting posts, after seeing which other would jump to your blog, and if it's a good one, they will give a comment as well. And ya, try to promote it as much as possible. You can start today itself.
----> You have already using the signature space very well (so, you have done the first thing)
---> Now, find other blogs that are related to your niche. And read their blogs, try to be a regular visitor and then comment in their posts daily. This way you'll be getting backlinks - and also - sometimes, you may get in touch with those bloggers as well.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. There are lots of good points and I have a lot to think about now, to take my blogs forward.

I know very little about PR, but doesn't PR determine where your site appears in search engine results? Another reason my PR may be low, is that most of my blogspots are only a few months old.

I suggest you read this thread here. I thought PR determined SERPS position but that is not the case, it is only a factor to get there but not the definite factor.

this is one of my blogspot blogs at PR3 http://gamblinganon.blogspot.com

I actually got it to PR 2 in two months, and PR 3 came 6 months later or so but I've been lazy with it.

Here is the trick, it is not so much the quantity of links, but the quality.

I contacted several other gambling help sites that were already at PR4 and PR5 and asked them to link exchange. Once I gathered a whole bunch of links I deleted them all and most webmasters didn't notice and kept my link. Thus, I had a whole bunch of incoming links to my site, with only a few outgoing links and they were all from good PR sites.

Link exchange is the way to go. Specific back links from related sites can help.

Wow martman.. I will make sure I won't exchange links with you in future :p
You shouldn't follow his advice and remove people's link after you agreed to any terms that both parties agreed on.
Maybe you should just buy those links instead - buy blogpost, post articles to directories or distribute press release. But please don't hurt other website owners.

Just write quality content and allow other blogs of your niche to give you backlinks for your content, this will give a great pr instead of link exchange.Even a single good backlink can give you pr 3 its tested by me A single backlink from pr 5 will give you pr 3.
