How do I get backup nameservers

    Hello,

I am trying to do this...

When my server goes down, say for 5 minutes, I would like the request to go to another server, which will bring up my custom error page.

Can I do that just by adding another ns to the site.

    It is regged with name.com..

    Thanks,

    Bozonessinc

    it can not be done.
+ if it could be done it would take 24 hours or so for the domain to set at another server so the 5mins is impossible

Look at the DNS Failover option at http://www.dnsmadeeasy.com/

You'll have to use their nameservers, but then when your primary server goes down it should update the DNS records for your site to send traffic to a secondary host. Results will depend on how aggressively users cache your DNS information but should take minutes to swap.

There's some other DNS providers that offer this but their names escape me at the moment.
