Hey, The ADsense ads on this wisegeek page look different (larger font, different format). How can I change my ads to look the same? http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-natural-gas.htm fcmisc.
Although it looks good, and I wish I could put those up on a couple of my sites, it's not worth getting booted from the adsense program over.
Changing adsense codes's not very easy, I spend really lotsa time doing it to get exact colour match etc, must really have some web design knowledge I think
I don't know about that. The site looks kind of amateurish. Premium publishers usually have better web design skills than that, they can afford to. (The altering of the codes notwithstanding, of course.)
I havn't heard of any premium adsense users. They spent lot of money in Adwords. I can see it in my site. But i doon't think a big fish like wisegeek did a TOS vioation without google's permission..
i also beleive it is a TOS violation. look at http://www.wisegeek.com/templates/ign/a/ad.js which is the JS included just before AdSense. i will also insert the code in that JS file here, in case he deletes it function google_ad_wrap_a(google_ad, text, cls) { return '<a class='+cls+' href="' + google_ad.url + '" onmouseover="window.status=\'' + google_ad.visible_url + '\'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=\'\'" >' + text + '</a>'; } function google_ad_request_done(google_ads) { if (google_ads.length < 1 ) return; document.getElementById('a').style.width=''; if (google_info.feedback_url) document.write('<td class="google_link_cell"><A href="'+ google_info.feedback_url+ '">Ads by Google</A></td>'); document.write('</tr>'); if (google_ads[0].type == 'text') { for(i = 0; i < google_ads.length; ++i) { document.write('<tr><td class="ad_links"><ul><li>' + google_ad_wrap_a(google_ads[i], google_ads[i].line1, 'main_link') + '</li></ul>' + google_ad_wrap_a(google_ads[i], google_ads[i].line2 + " " + google_ads[i].line3, 'description_link') + "</td></tr>"); } } } Code (markup):
That's completely legal, he's got permission to use custom ad formats. I know that code, it looks like the example Google sends to premium publishers.
so what is this 'premium publishers'? never heard it before, i guess.. but i think i've read somewhere about contacting G if you want to modify the ad code.
premium publisher status if you get a certain amount of views a month (20 million i think). about.com is a premium publisher.
DP thread about premium adsense account http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2151 Google info https://www.google.com/adsense/premium-overview
CNet.com is also a premium publisher, we still have very long way to go to become premium publishers or maybe we'll never be!
Yes, Premium publishers get this type of facility that they can have "Flexible ad formats" to display google ads
