How do I get a description in google?

Hi, in google no description shows up for my site.



My site is www.sarah-lane.com and it is a fan site for the lovely and talented Sarah Lane. The site is still a work in progress, but I'd love to figure out how to add a description in google.

I've been trying to build backlinks for a day or so... we'll see if that gets me higher up on the first page.

Any other tips you have that are specific to my site would be appreciated as well.

 

In your head tags place this

<meta name="description" content="your description here/>

 

<meta name="description" content="your description here" /> <-- forgot a closing " , also that is for xHTML, if your site is HTML remove the / in the end.

 

Your site has no meta description and I've seen that your site uses a frameset. Google can't see the contents of your site.

 

sometimes google don't pick meta description for snippet... google choose what description to show.. sometimes the content of your site/page...

 

Use Div/CSS for your site, avoid frames because frames are very hard to optimize.

 

Strange src code. No meta, no content... i am curious how google can get it better !!

So just to make sure I am doing this right:

Right now I am using stealth-forwarding via dynadot and I am hosting through a different company. The stealth forwarding uses frames and I don't know of another way because I have a different company for hosting.

 

you must insert your meta description tag and wait. google will correct it on next crawl

 

The meta name is still "description" the only thing that changes is the content part, for whatever you want it to be.

 

It is meta tag description that you are missing for sure

 

So I should add this then?
