Hey all I brought a .com thinking it would be best beat for my business in Australia but now Im thinking I should change it to a .com.au should I do this would it make me show up in results ?
It may help you marginally.. but if it's an older domain ( the .com ) I wouldn't be too hasty. For Geo Targeting, 1. Hosting in country in question 2. Local TLD ( where it makes sense ) 3. Location information on Contact page (minimum) 4. Geo Targeted Back Links ( where it makes sense ) So the .com usage - for me - would depend on how old the domain is....
.com is a year old. I have been trying to get social networking links to site using keywords australia in there as I thought this may help.
A .com.au domain will help in the sense that you might show up higher in the SERPs on Google Australia for "pages from Australia", than you would for a search of "the web" in Google Australia. But if you have a year old domain I would stick to working with that. Also a .com.au is much more expensive to register annually than a .com.
Same here... if the domain is already a year old.. stick with it and work on the other areas I mentioned.. you should have no probs ranking in the local index...
